Job Description
In this Assistant Accountant Job in Stellenbosch, you will support the group accounting team across the full month-end and reporting cycle. The role combines core accounting tasks — reconciliations, journals, and reporting — with exposure to group-level processes such as intercompany reconciliations and annual financial statements, making it a genuinely developmental position for a growing accountant.
Your key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports, performing balance-sheet reconciliations and investigating variances, and processing journals, accruals, and adjustments in the ERP system. You will support the preparation of annual financial statements and audit workings, and assist with intercompany reconciliations across Mediclinic’s hospital entities — valuable exposure to consolidation in a multi-entity group.
You will also capture and review fixed-asset transactions and depreciation schedules, and provide financial analysis and support for ad hoc finance projects. The work demands accuracy, strong reconciliation discipline, and the ability to meet tight month-end and reporting deadlines — the core competencies that define a dependable accountant.
The position suits a detail-oriented, analytically minded part-qualified accountant with one to two years of experience who wants to build a career in corporate finance within a respected group. The rigorous accounting culture and professional-development focus make it a strong place to grow toward SAIPA or CIMA qualification.
